Description

Greetings,

The Sisters of the Skies Organization has developed the Sisters of the Skies Mentorship Program. This program is designed to address the large number of ambitious sisters, like yourselves, who would like to join our organization and do not yet possess a commercial pilot’s license, but who have an aspiration of becoming a professional pilot.

We have created this program to show how much the Sisters of the Skies Organization cares about its future members, and how committed we are to creating a more prepared woman of color entering the Aviation industry. As a Sisters of the Skies mentee, you will obtain a female pilot industry contact. With that, we hope that you will develop your career goals, participate in industry focused conversations, and take part in the program’s engaging learning activities.

There are two programs. One is a year-long program that runs March through December, and the other is an accelerated 6-month program that runs July through December. Registration for the year-long program is open March 1st - 31st, and registration for the accelerated program is open July 1st - 31st. Participation in one of these programs is meant to develop your professional career objectives and deepen your knowledge about the Aviation industry and its African American history. To participate in the program, you must at least be a student pilot, complete an application form, pay the non-refundable application processing fee, and be at least 16 years of age (with parental consent below the age of 18).

The Sisters of the Skies Mentorship Program has a competitive application process as there are a limited number of available slots. Once completing the application form and paying the non-refundable $15 application processing fee, Mentess will go through a screening process to determine their induction into the program. Here the applicants will be contacted by the mentorship program coordinator and asked a series of questions to aid in determining their induction into the program. Once inducted, participants will receive a confirmation email from the program coordinator. Once all available slots have been filled, remaining applicants will be placed on a waitlist for the start of the next program.

We look forward to matching you with your future mentor, and your inevitable entry into the Aviation Industry.

Welcome Aboard!
